Please read this agreement carefully before using the calculator. By using the calculator or clicking “agree” you are agreeing to be bound by this agreement. The following terms apply.

The calculator is an educational tool and not a substitute for professional advice. Users should not rely on any analysis or information generated from use of the calculator to make decisions about a particular project. The analysis and information generated from use of the calculator is understood to be generally accurate in San Mateo County as of the date the calculator was published/last updated, but every project is unique and User’s actual experience may be different.

For instance, construction costs, monthly rents, insurance premiums, taxes and other information vary broadly based on local and personal circumstances. In addition, the calculator on this website does not factor in local zoning standards. User could use the calculator to estimate the cost of building a 1,100 square foot second unit, but applicable zoning regulations may cap the size of units at 850 square feet. Furthermore, the calculator and its underlying data are not updated regularly.

The calculator, any information or analysis generated through its use, is provided on an “as is” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.the county of san mateo and its officers, agents, employees, community partners and servants disclaim all other warranties, express or implied, including, without limitation, implied warranties of merchantability, and fitness for a particular purpose, as to the content and information generated by use of the calculator.

Limit of Liability. The County of San Mateo and its officers, agents, employees, community partners and servants are not liable to User for any indirect, consequential, incidental or special damages (including without limitation, lost profits and lost data, information or content) arising out of this agreement, regardless of the theory of liability (including negligence and strict liability).

Governing Law. This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of California (without regard to conflicts of law principles) for any dispute between the parties or relating in any way to the subject matter of this agreement. Any suit or legal proceeding must be exclusively brought in the federal or state courts for San Mateo County, California, and User submits to this personal jurisdiction and venue.

Miscellaneous. This agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties and supersedes any prior or contemporaneous negotiations or agreements, whether oral or written, related to this subject matter. User is not relying on any representation concerning this subject matter, oral or written, not included in this agreement. No representation, promise or inducement not included in this agreement is binding. No modification or waiver of any term of this agreement is effective unless both parties sign it.
